10 Outdoor activities for teens in Adelaide

Playford Town skate park

If your kids prefer to have fun on wheels, then head to Playford Town and check out the skate park. There is plenty of room to skate (half pipe anyone?) or bike around and show off their skills. Located in the same area is an adventure playground and waterplay area for any smaller family members who want to come along. This is one of the great free activities for teenagers on offer in Adelaide.

Adelaide Zoo

Adelaide-Zoo is a great day out in Adelaide

Adelaide Zoo is Australia’s second oldest zoo and has more than 1800 animals. For those teens that love animals, there is a keeper for a day program, as well as daily shows and events throughout the year. A must see are the giant pandas, Australia’s only breeding pandas! You can also see lions, tigers, orangutans and much much more.

West Beach Adventure

Mega-Adventure-Park-Sky-Challenge-Experience-in-Adelaide

West Beach Adventure is one for thrill seeking teens. Home to Mega Climb, the largest ariel course in Australia with a 20m leap of faith vertical drop. Climb, swing or skywalk your way through this adventure playground. Climb the mega structure and navigate the obstacles or swing through the air 18m above the ground. West Beach Adventure is definitely a cool thing for teens to do.

Monarto Safari Park

Located just outside of Adelaide, the Monarto Safari Park has a huge range of exotic animals located in an open plan environment. Set off on an African safari and see incredible creatures from the comfort and safety of a safari vehicle. This is a great day trip and fun thing to do with your teenage daughter or son.

Adelaide Oval

The Adelaide Oval is home to cricket, music and AFL and is must see for sporting fans. Teens will gaze in wonder looking at where their heroes have walked and can imagine running onto the ground at full capacity. Go behind the scenes to see where their favourite sporting stars get ready This is a fun things to do with teenage girls and boys.

Tree Climb Adelaide

Get outside and go climbing at this aerial adventure park. Conveniently located in the Adelaide CBD, Tree Climb has over 70 obstacles and 8 routes, meaning you can find something for all abilities. This fun filled waterpark is a great place for teens to cool off and have fun. Let them race down the 77m (yes you read that correctly!) SupaJet or watch them on the racing slides. Woodhouse Activity Centre

Check out the range of activities happening at Woodhouse Activity Centre all year round, including their school holiday programs. Specialising in ‘adventure therapy’ kids can challenge themselves on the obstacle course, find their way out of a maze, go orienteering and much much more. Surf lessons

Surfing is a sure fire way to elevate your teen’s level of coolness and is a fun things to do in the summer for teens. Plus, it is great way to improve their fitness, strength and confidence. Soft surfboards, body boards and wetsuits are also available to hire. Located just 40 minutes from Adelaide, Moana is a great place to learn to surf and enjoy a day in the sun.

Feel the need for speed? Grab your friends and head to Mega Fast Karts to get racing. Race each other on the main track or try your hand at the dodgem track. For those that don’t fancy the karts, laser skirmish and an arcade centre are also located at the facility. Trust us, you won’t have a bored teen at this venue!

If you are looking for things to do with teenage kids, Mega Courts Indoor Sports is arguably one of Adelaide’s most versatile indoor sports centre.  Teens can enjoy indoor sports, state of the art laser tag and gel ball facilities, inflatable jungle gym and loads more. Mega Courts are passionate about active participation and community involvement and is a great place for teens to spend time.

X Golf

Can you escape? Teens can take on any of the four challenges on offer and see if they are smart enough to escape in 60 minutes. Escape Hunt is conveniently located in the heart of Adelaide and is accessible via public transport. If art, ideas and events sound like the perfect thing for your teen, then pay a visit to the Art Gallery of South Australia. This is an art gallery that teens will love, trust us! Neo is full of things for teens to do. Free and held up to 6 times pe year, Neo is a space where young people can kick back and hang out with friends, jump into creative labs, tune into live music and take part in performances and more.

AFL Max

More than just a footy centre, AFL Max lets teens choose to bounce, climb or tackle their way through their visit. Max Interactive is a zone where technology meets exercise, Max Climb offers 14 climbing walls to choose from and Max Ariel allows teens to bounce and play games – and that’s just a few of the areas! AFL Max is a massive 5500m² family entertainment and training facility where anyone and everyone is welcome.
