Important: Monday 26 April 2027 is the official start of Term 2, but it is also the observed public holiday for ANZAC Day in Western Australia. Western Australia school development days
Western Australian public schools schedule school development days, also known as pupil-free days, so teachers, school leaders and support staff can undertake professional learning and planning. Students do not attend school on these days.
Three development days are scheduled during the Christmas and New Year break. Schools schedule another three development days during the school year.
The exact dates differ between schools and are chosen in consultation with the school council or board and the school community. Check your school’s website, newsletter or calendar before arranging work or childcare.

Catholic and independent schools often plan their calendars around the Western Australian public-school dates, but they do not always follow them exactly.
