Hi! I am Janine Mergler and I take my kids (I have one son, one niece and one nephew) on adventures with me to create memories during the school holidays. We love hanging out together over the school holidays and making sure we make the most of our down time to explore Australia together. It is such a big, beautiful country. We have been to most of the places listed on our website and we only include them if they are family friendly and kids love them!
We’ve hunted high and low and personally visited a most of the cities and towns across Australia so we can bring you our favourite local activities:
- Free activities like museums, playgrounds and beaches;
- Cheap and affordable school holiday activities like local shows, seasonal events and council activities and events;
- BIG days out like theme parks, must do tourist attractions and big ticket shows and experiences.
And we tell you all about our adventures and what the best things to do in that town or city are! We have also listed specific age group school holiday activities, like things to do with teenagers that aren’t lame – in your capital city! Our aim to give you a detailed look at the places we go with our opinion of the facilities and we invite you to submit your suggestions too! I am often asked by Channel 9 to share my top tips for school holiday savings, so here you will find a collection of free and cheap ideas to help you save money over the term breaks!
We have also included school holiday programs in capital cities, so you can find an interesting and entertaining things to do for the kids, while you have to work… because we appreciate that not all families can spend all the school holidays with their kids. Sometimes we need to work too!
